Logan Paul admits to spreading misinformation about Algerian boxer

Logan Paul confesses to spreading false information about Olympic boxer Imane Khelif, igniting a passionate discussion on gender equality in athletics.

The YouTuber, 29 years old, uploaded a post that has since been removed from X following the quarterfinal game between Italy’s Angela Carini and Khelif in the women’s 66kg event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“This is the purest form of evil unfolding right before our eyes,” Paul posted. “A man was allowed to beat up a woman on a global stage, crushing her life’s dream while fighting for her deceased father. This delusion must end.”

After facing criticism for his comments, Paul removed the initial tweet and made a new one.

“Oopsies,” he posted. “I might be guilty of spreading misinformation along with the entirety of this app. Although she’s been previously disqualified for failing a ‘gender test’ and has XY chromosomes, some sources say Imane Khelif was born a biological woman.”

“I stand by my sentiment that biological men should not compete against biological women in any sport and if you disagree you’re a sick f***.”

Just a bit later, he shared a survey on X asking: “Is my opinion that men shouldn’t be allowed to compete against women transphobic?”

Nonetheless, there is no solid proof to back up the assertion that Imane Khelif, who has competed in the Olympics as a female, is actually biologically male, intersex, or transgender.

Khelif has responded to these allegations

At the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships, both Khelif and boxer Lin Yu-Ting did not pass the gender eligibility checks, supposedly because of XY chromosomes.

Khelif has reacted to these claims, denying they are part of a plot.
